Forget the 3D. This imax re-release of 1993’s biggest hit is mostly a very welcome memo to Hollywood that blockbusters don’t have to be stupid.

Truly outstanding monster movies turn their monsters into more than special effects. And, Steven Spielberg does just that. 

Through a series of telling images, Spielberg makes it clear — as Sam Neill and the children in his care are nearly killed by a falling car, an electrified perimeter fence and a failed computer system — that the real monster is the modern technology which created the dinosaurs but is now out of control.

Audiences should run- not walk- to see Jurassic Park on the big screen

Where Jurassic Park was superior to Spielberg’s previous action films, was that here he shows how adventure can change people.

Sam Neill discovers paternal feelings he never suspected, and the well-intentioned villain of the piece, played by Richard Attenborough, discovers the perils of even benevolent totalitarianism.

If you haven’t seen this on a big screen, treat yourself. It’s awe-inspiring, and John Williams’s sweeping, melodic score is a triumph.

Hi,
I have 2 laptops: an ASUS K52JC, and an HP Pavilion dv6.
The screen on the HP laptop is *much* brighter and more vibrant than the ASUS's screen.
Even when I turn the brightness up to maximum on the ASUS screen, whites are never very 'white' or bright.

It seems there is nothing I can do to get this ASUS laptop to show true whites and a nice bright display, to match the HP laptop.
I have tried using ASUS's Splendid program, but that didn't help.

Is this just an issue with the quality of the screen on the ASUS laptop, compared to the HP laptop?

I'm looking to buy a new laptop in the next month. I will be using it very heavily (work and play) so it's important that I love it. Will buy in store.

Budget: somewhere around $1200-$1600, depends how much I like the laptop

About me:
- Freelance software developer (work at home and don't need most "enterprise" features)
- Main activities:
? Software development
? Web browsing
? YouTube/Netflix
? Microsoft Office
? Occasional use of Virtual PCs (so need over 4GB RAM)
- I don't travel too much

Musts:
- Win 8 (I already have a license)
- SSD (at least 100 GB)
- Around 15 inches display, big enough to stack windows side by side
- Connect to external monitor
- Fast
- Good battery life
- Can handle a lot of multitasking

Preferences:
- Relatively thin & lightweight
- Good display (love my iPad Retina display)
- 6+ GB RAM

Not needed:
- Touch screen
- CD/DVD drive

So far the best I have found is the ASUS ZenBook UX51Vz-DH71 (15.6 inches). Any other recommendations?

These are dual GPU solutions that I don't really recommend. You should be able to hawk off the second GPU easily.

Look for user reviews and more information regarding these laptops. Throttling on the N550JV shouldn't be an issue with your work load. Have a look at the machines if possible.

Recommend an after market installation of the SSD. Recommend the Samsung 840 Pro only.
