You will have to sacrifice battery life or gaming performance. If you want gaming performance, then a powerful GPU is going to eat into the battery runtimes.

You can go for a custom CLevo/MSI build from Reflex Notebook Canada - Your Source for Sager Notebooks and Laptops in Canada
You should be able to configure a good laptop with a GTX 780M/ 8970M with a base quad core i7 with 8/16GB of RAM.

Some US resellers you can get the same laptop from are Mythlogic, XoticPC, LPC Digital, GentechPC, PowerNotebooks, ProStar, etc.

If you want the best support for Photoshop, I would recommend looking at business workstations like the ThinkPad W530, Precision M4700 and the EliteBook 8570W. These are not good for gaming but they will offer you great support for your software as well having screens that will help you with image editing. You should be able to get a good deal by directly contacting the respective OEMs and haggling with them. You can make the RAM and SSD upgrades yourself. They work out cheaper that way.

You can also try the Lenovo IdeaPad Y510p. It covers the sRGB space pretty well. Should work out much cheaper too. I don't recommend the SLI version. Adding the RAM and SSD should be pretty painless. You can get it from the Lenovo Canada website.

Photoshop uses OpenCL nowadays, something AMD is very good at. If you go with the 8970m (MSI, Sager either one), you should be good on both fronts. This is a good notebook. It comes to about $1700 with the 8970m, an OS, 3 year warranty extension and the 95% gamut screen (since you are doing a lot of photoshop; it's a $50 upgrade). I think that is a very good price considering you would spend about $120 on a 128GB SSD (~$200 on 256) and would still stay under your max budget.
