I'll be doing a Masters in Computer Science in the UK this September. I'm torn between buying a laptop in my home country Malaysia or in the UK.

Malaysia: Prices close to USD and we use the same 3 pin power plug as the UK, mid-end market (we don't have some high end laptops like Series 7, and most laptops don't have an HD variant), 14" are aplenty, potential warranty issues in the UK
UK: Prices are higher, high-end market, takes a long time to receive new laptops, lack of 14" laptops, UK warranty

This is the variant of the N550JV-CN077H that I'll be buying in Malaysia. 2 years international warranty compared to ASUS UK's 1 year warranty. It's also 300 GBP cheaper than buying in the UK. However, I've heard horror stories about ASUS UK's terrible mail-in warranty.
[01-Aug] Asus N550JV-CN077H *i7-4700/4G/1T/Nvidia/Windows 8* (Selangor, end time 7/23/2014 12:26:00 AM MYT) * Typo on the site, the processor should be i7-4702 HQ

I'm also tempted by the Samsung Series 7 Chronos in the UK. I'm afraid that by the time I'm in the UK (14 September), the discounted Series 7 Chronos will be sold out.

List of laptops in Malaysia with prices: http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/2656663 800 GBP ~= RM 4000

Please recommend similar laptops in Malaysia or in the UK.

At least i5 Haswell ULV. Don't mind Mobile/Quad core versions or Ivy Bridge if those laptops have great battery life like Series 7 Chronos
14" - 15" Full HD
Graphics card Nvidia GeForce GT 740M
Battery life of at least 5 hours
Good build quality and good support in the UK
Lighter than 2.5 kg
Don't need a DVD drive
